Product Review: The Orion by The Kind Pen

Hey PNW fans! We are excited to have another vaporizer review for you today! Let me introduce you to the Orion by The Kind Pen. Its a flower vaporizer, you can’t use oils or waxes in this one.

The “Orion” is portable and its size helps it be discreet. I can palm it almost. Its a black matte finish and the construction is so lightweight that it feels “cheap”.  When you buy the Orion yet get a retractable micro USB charger, cleaning brush, and packing tool. No wall plug, you have to have a USB port or another USB wall plug converter to charge this. It doesn’t feel like a well built item at all.

Kind Pen say the vape pen has a stainless steel herb chamber with a capacity of 0.5 grams, but from my tests only about a 0.25 really works well and that stainless steel is flimsy and feels more like aluminum than steel. It heats up in about a minute, but sadly there is no temp control. It always maintains a temperature between 360°F and 420°F and then shuts off after 6 minutes. The heating chamber doesn’t heat evenly, our herb was much darker (almost to the point of combustion in my opinion) than the top was. As you can see in the video the hits weren’t all that large. In fact, if felt like we weren’t hitting it at all and didn’t get a stoned feeling from the unit.

For $80, this just doesn’t make the grade for a vaporizer. We’ve seen much better for close to the same price. You do get what you pay for though, vaporizers aren’t really worth anything until you hit the $125+ mark. This product does NOT receive the PNWCR Badge of Approval.
