Grow Journal: Chemdog Auto from Auto Seeds

Chemdog Auto from Auto Seeds

This Chemdog Auto from Auto Seeds is our second attempt at an autoflower cannabis plant. Described as The result of crossing Auto #1 with an original Chemdog clone, Auto Chemdog is an easy to grow highly potent strain with a knock out stone. The perfect balance between sativa and indica genetics and ready in only 60-65 days from seed, Auto Chemdog is one of our quickest finishing strains.  We’re experimenting with no transplant growing in a large 25 gallon pot with this one!

Chemdog Auto – Auto Seeds – Grow Journal Week 1

These were another set of seeds I won, this time from the Weed Weekly Facebook page. These seeds are a genetic created by Auto Seeds and we were excited to have one part of the Sour Diesel backbone!

This taproot sprouted after 36 hours and we planted this little gal in dirt at 40 hours. This time around we went with a large, 25 gallon pot, from Radicle Bags that we were sent for testing to see how this grew our auto better than the black 10 gallon pot we used for our Freezeberry Auto.

This seedling already doesn’t disappoint! It sprouted above ground after about 4 days and at a week of actual growth we’re seeing a strong, wide leaf structure already appearing.

As you can see this little seedling is doing well and we think she’s going to be a strong lady!

Plant Maintenance Schedule:

Planting – 25 gallon Radicle Pot filled with 3 bags of #4 dirt from Oregon’s Constant Gardener. Dirt was treated with 1 gallon of water mixed with 2 ml of Microbelife Hydro Root Dip.

Watering – Every other day for the first 2 weeks as the seedling establishes itself. We aren’t daily watering so we create pockets of water for the root system to reach too. When watering we are watering around the edge of the pot, not directly on or near the plant. This encourages roots to expand better in the first few weeks as they have to reach for water.

We won’t be feeding this plant any nutrients until the embryonic leaves begin to yellow, typically about 2-3 week of seedling growth but before entering the “early vegetative” stage.

Chemdog Auto – Auto Seeds – Grow Journal Week 2

This little lady just took off this week! In just a few days she doubled her size and doesn’t care that she isn’t getting any nutrients yet. We’ve added Bloom Khaos as a foliar spray every three days but we’re still not going to feed any nutrients this week as the embryonic leaves are still strong!

She doesn’t mind water and sun only right now at all! This photo is at the end of week 2 and she’s damn near tripled in size compared to the beginning of the week. This auto flower sure does want to grow!!

The Radicle Bags 25 gal pot seems to be allowing for much faster vegetative growth than the black standard pot we used for our Freezeberry Auto grow journal!

Once again this lady showed us that she don’t need no stinkin nutrients! Just using some Bloom for foliar, sun and water this plant is just jumping by leaps & bounds! This is one of the fastest growing plants I’ve ever seen personally! I’ve heard of them but this is the first to grace my gardens!

20160825_065639

Its hard to tell in the photo above but about mid-week the embryonic leaves began to yellow and died off towards the end of the week. That means the plant is no longer receiving it’s own nutrients and we have to start helping her out! This week we began the Remo Nutrients feed schedule along with the Microbelife Hydro supplemental nutrients.

This plant had huge growth without any nutes so I’m super stoked to see what she does next!!

Plant Maintenance Schedule:

Remo Nutrients Feed Schedule:

Micro, Grow, VeloKelp and MagNiFiCal – 5 ml/gal for the first week of feeding. This technically began at the end of week 3 of vegetative growth.

MLHydro Feed Schedule:

Photosynthesis Plus, NourishC, Rootdip, and  Veg & Fruit Enhance. Intro feed of 2ml/G in first week of feeding

Chemdog Auto – Auto Seeds – Grow Journal Week 4

First week of feeding with Remo Nutrients & Microbelife had this beauty jump nearly 2 inches in one week! She jumped enough that we decided to use our KutzEZ cutters and trim off some of the lower vegetation that detracts from the nutrient uptake to the more important part of the plants!

You can see there that the plant is a bit cleaner near the bottom and more of the nurtients will now go into that upper canopy. Before we move onto next week I want you to look at that photo above. See anything weird? Yep, those are pre-flowers already showing up at the peak and in the arms of the upper branches. After only 4 weeks! We’re not going to get too much off of this one I believe!

Plant Maintenance Schedule:

Remo Nutrients Feed Schedule:

Micro, Grow, VeloKelp and MagNiFiCal – 6 ml/gal for this week with MagNiFiCal at 7 ml/gal. We also added 5 ml/gal of Astro Flower since we noticed the flowers already.

MLHydro Feed Schedule:

Photosynthesis Plus, NourishC, Rootdip, and  Veg & Fruit Enhance at 1 ml/G, this will continue for the entire life of the plant.

Chemdog Auto – Auto Seeds – Grow Journal Week 5

Sorry for the blurriness of the image above, but look at that jump in growth! We actually missed a week of photos, so this is week 6 of growth even though its only the 5th update! In two weeks this plant jumped 3 inches and now it’s flowering strong!

grow journal chemdawg auto auto seeds

You can click the flower photo to get a better look at it, but this Chemdawg is in full flower. The plant smells like someone spilled diesel on it and the first trichomes are beginning to form. I’m glad for the height jump, but I’m still super worried about the yield we’re going to get. I think trying this in late summer (and getting an odd phenotype I think) was not the best plan!

Plant Maintenance Schedule:

Remo Nutrients Feed Schedule:

We now use the full flower lineup: Micro, Bloom, VeloKelp, MagNiFiCal, Nature’s Candy & Astro Bloom – 7 ml/gal for this week with MagNiFiCal at 5 ml/gal.  Nature’s Candy and Astro Flower are added to the mixture at 6 ml/gal.

MLHydro Feed Schedule:

Photosynthesis Plus, NourishC, Rootdip, and  Veg & Fruit Enhance at 1 ml/G, this will continue for the entire life of the plant. Veg & Fruit Enhance increased to 2 ml/G for the rest of this flowering phase.

Chemdog Auto – Auto Seeds – Grow Journal Week 6

Flowers came in hard this week! It looks like the vertical growth has stopped fully and the plant is just going to flower away. The diesel smell is even stronger, with some more funk added to it too. Check out this photo of the main kola!

grow journal chemdawg auto auto seeds

Super frosty and we still have a few more weeks of growth to go……sadly, this plant now tops out at a vertical height of 1.25 feet and we won’t be getting any more out of it. Hopefully we’ll see those flower increase a lot!

Plant Maintenance Schedule:

Remo Nutrients Feed Schedule:

Micro, Bloom, VeloKelp, MagNiFiCal, Nature’s Candy & Astro Bloom – 8 ml/gal for this week with MagNiFiCal at 6 ml/gal. Astro Flower increased to 9 ml/gal for extra flower nutrient uptake.

MLHydro Feed Schedule:

Photosynthesis Plus, NourishC, Rootdip, and  Veg & Fruit Enhance at 1 ml/G, this will continue for the entire life of the plant. Veg & Fruit Enhance at 2 ml/G for the rest of this flowering phase.

Chemdog Auto – Auto Seeds – Grow Journal Week 7

The rains are coming and harvest time is almost here. Take a look at that weird plant though! The flowers bulked up, but all of a sudden they took on this very nodal quality that looks super telescopy (odd, singular growths that “telescope” in an accordion like fashion away from the main kola) and odd.

grow journal chemdawg auto auto seeds

Again, sorry for the blur but this shows you the node quality I’m talking about. The Chemdawg diesel smell is still super prevalent, but the flower definitely has some odd characteristics!

Plant Maintenance Schedule:

Remo Nutrients Feed Schedule:

Micro, Bloom, VeloKelp, MagNiFiCal, Nature’s Candy & Astro Bloom – 8 ml/gal for this week with MagNiFiCal at 5 ml/gal. Astro Flower reduced to 7 ml/gal due to the odd telescope nature of the growth patterns.

Ok, garden came down today and with it we decided to pull down the Chemdawg. End height was 1.55 feet and less than 6 inches around. You can see that our yield is damn near nothing! This was almost a waste of nutrients, however it was a nice experience with late summer auto flower growth!

14963666_10206193176068351_712445750_o

This thing ended up being one central stalk after we pulled all the vegetative growth and sun leaves! If we’re lucky we’re going to pull an eighth of an ounce off of this one!!

14971089_10206193180348458_1793224195_o

Click the photo above and you’ll get a good idea of our final result. If this is an eighth I’ll be surprised!! We’re curing now and will get you a final weight in a few weeks, but there you go PNW fans!

Thank you for following our Chemdawg Auto from Auto Seeds. We didn’t get any real yield, however we had fun experimenting with these seeds! We’ll give these another shot in an indoor grow journal to see the difference! Don’t forget to check out our sponsors!
